MPL Launches Mayhem Studios To Step Up Development Of Mobile Games
The Mobile Premier League (MPL), a gaming unicorn, has opened a studio to accelerate the development of AAA (high-profile) mobile games for domestic and international markets.
Mayhem Studios, a subsidiary of MPL, promises to build high-quality games using India’s developer community. A team of experts in animation, art, cinematics, design, engineering, UI and UX game design, and game production will work at the firm.
“India has the potential to become a global gaming hotspot,” said MPL co-founder and CEO Sai Srinivas. “To help realize the country’s aim of making the Indian digital gaming sector a global leader, it is critical to build the necessary infrastructure for developing world-class games.” The creation of Mayhem Studios is our first step toward achieving this ambition.”
MPL raised its Series E round of funding in September, sponsored by Legatum Capital, at a pre-money valuation of $2.3 billion and became India’s second gaming unicorn, or start-up worth more than $1 billion.
Mayhem Studios, based in Bengaluru, will be India’s first AAA gaming studio and will work on a variety of esports and other game titles in order to address the growing demand for gaming in India and other markets. Mayhem Studios’ CEO will be Ojas Vipat.
Mayhem Studios’ CEO, Ojas Vipat, stated, “We will be focused on making games that all players can relate to and enjoy the top-in-class gaming experience. Establishing such a cutting-edge studio is the first important step toward the development of many AAA mobile game titles for worldwide markets from India, and we are on the correct path.”
