The prize money pool in India is expected to grow at 66% CAGR and may reach Rs 100 crore during the period. Different from online games, esports is defined as online skill games played in tournaments, where different teams or individual players compete with each other to win championships, leagues, just like other sports. This country is growing faster than the global esports industry and is expected to reach 1.5 million players and 250,000 teams by 2025.
India’s esports prize pool only accounts for 0.6% of the global prize pool, but it is expected to reach nearly 2% by 2025. The growth of the prize pool is still one of the most important and motivating factors for attracting new audiences of serious gamers. By 2025, streaming media advertising revenue is expected to grow to Rs 650 crore and will be generating the largest portion of esports revenues. It is expected that tournament sponsorship and joint revenue will be 45% higher than the compound annual growth rate and reach Rs 350 crore in 2025.
