Nixing Of Gaming Ban To Create Many Jobs
The All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) invited the Karnataka High Court’s order to subdue the restriction on online gaming in the state. “As the peak business body for online skill gaming, AIGF invites the High Court request.
Coming in the progression of the positive decisions for online skill gaming by the Kerala and Madras High Courts in 2021, this is a positive development to develop for the expanding gaming industry,” said AIGF CEO Roland Landers.
“India is the fifth biggest online gaming market around the world and skill-based gaming, a dawn sector, is bringing forth an expanding number of unicorns inside the country, particularly Karnataka,” he added. As per AIGF, the gaming sector has been a “solid monetary supporter of the Indian economy in any event, during a phenomenal time of slowdown and is relied upon to produce incomes in the abundance of $3 billion by 2025.”

Last October, the state government, by amending The Karnataka Police Act, 1963, had restricted the playing of games of skill, including online games, which included gambling with money or in any case. The petitioners, including AIGF, had asserted that games, for example, poker, chess, rummy, fantasy sports are generally games of skill.
“The High Court request is one more approval of what the online skill gaming industry has consistently kept up with; that we are an authentic business action,” said Dinker Vashisht, VP, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs, Games24x7.
