GoM Finalizes 28% GST On Casinos, Race Course, And Online Gaming
The board of ministers entrusted to survey the GST levy on casinos, race courses, and online gaming has concluded its report, which will be taken up at the forthcoming GST Council meeting.
The Group of Ministers, led by Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma, had in its past meeting starting this month collectively settled on climbing the duty rate on these services to 28%.
The GoM met again on Wednesday and concluded the technique for valuing these services to impose this tax.

Casinos, horse racing, and online gaming currently charge 18% GST.
The public authorities had in May last year set up a board of state ministers for better valuation of the services of casinos, online gaming portals, and race courses to impose Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The report of the GoM is probably going to be taken up in the upcoming meeting of the GST Council, anticipated at the end of this month.
Other state ministers in the 8-member GoM include Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Gujarat finance minister Kanubhai Patel, Goa Panchayati Raj minister Mauvin Godinho, Tamil Nadu finance minister P Thiaga Rajan, Uttar Pradesh finance minister Suresh Khanna, and Telangana finance minister T Harish Rao.
