West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS) will set up a centre for technology, gaming and sports laws for which it will before long sign an MoU with an online gaming platform has given a grant of Rs 1 crore for a reason.
The centre will explore the field of technology, entertainment and sports laws and will hold lectures and training programmes to furnish students with a new genre of laws. It will likewise lead certificate courses to upgrade the knowledge base of lawyers and law students, said Prof Nirmal Kanti Chakraborti, vice-chancellor of WBNUJS.
The VC expressed that with online gaming turning into a significant area of interest for individuals across various age groups, this centre will zero in on lawful exploration in this new field so users are not duped. Prof Chakrabarti expressed that as there could be no legitimate regulation for online gaming and the Law Commission had recommended specific steps as of late in Parliament a decision was taken to set up severe regulations.
At this moment the ministry of electronics is the nodal agency to regulate online gaming and check the contents too so women users are not unfavourably impacted. He expressed that for getting clarity in regulatory laws on online games WBNUJS will send its suggestions to the ministry. He said that the Centre will likewise concentrate on how pay-to-earn in India work and how the regulations can be made more strict.
Prof Chakrabarti said: “The online gaming industry requires proper training to remain updated about the regulations. WBNUJS is setting up the centre through a grant of Rs 1 crore from Gameskraft – an online gaming platform and it will also sponsor one gold medal and research positions at the centre.”
With entertainment regulations turning out to be more significant in India, the centre will likewise run crash courses and certificate courses in entertainment laws and will promote intellectual property rights laws.
