National Poker Series Of India Glitters As Growth Of Poker Rises
After a long journey at India’s most prestigious poker series on PokerBaazi, the National Poker Series, India (2023), the winners of 107 tournaments were crowned by India’s proud queen of boxing, Mary Kom, along with the CEO of AIGF Roland Landers at the debutante ‘Night of Glory’, held at Novotel Aerocity.
The top 3 players in the national tournament earned a spot at the WSOP (World Series of Poker) in Las Vegas. However, the players “achieved ultimate glory” as they shared the podium with one of the country’s most decorated athletes. Most of the medalists who shared the stage with big-name celebrities included players from Kolhapur and Nautanwa, Jabalpur, Chattisgarh, Ranchi, Darbhanga, Katihar and Chamba regions, among others, who made a name for themselves in daily tournaments by winning medals. The tournament’s success and expansion into new markets were also highlighted by a 33% increase in female players on the rosters.
“We have relentlessly strived towards creating a robust poker ecosystem which not only contributes to the growth of players but also helps in creating awareness and recognition of poker as a game of skill. This event sets the tone for the celebration of the hard work and perseverance of poker players across the country and puts poker on par with other sports. We will continue to help players from India showcase their talent through platforms such as National Poker Series and eventually represent India at reputed international tournaments,” said Navkiran Singh, Founder & CEO, of Baazi Games.
In addition to the awards ceremony, PokerBaazi was a one-of-a-kind experience with the presence of the well-known comedian, Anubhav Singh Bassi, who entertained the crowd with his hilarious wit and occasional Poker jokes. The night ended with an electrifying performance by the popular Indian electronic musician, Ritviz, who captivated the audience with his captivating melodies.
