The All-India Gaming Federation has moved the Karnataka High Court, challenging the legitimacy of an amendment to the Karnataka Police Act disallowing and condemning playing games of skill, including online games, by gambling money or in any case.
The Karnataka Police (Amendment) Act, 2021, passed by the Karnataka assembly in September, boycotts online games. The amendment became effective on October 5, 2021. The petition expressed that playing games of skill can't be pushed onto society as indecent by the State with its thought of profound quality.
It said that five members from the request complete their activities in Karnataka, and marquee investors have invested over Rs 3,000 crores in these members. The petitioners likewise utilize more than 1,200 members in the state. The Act has affected investment and people alike.
"Bengaluru, being an IT center point, is additionally the base for countless members of the petitions, who carry business across the nation from Bengaluru. Services are given from Bengaluru to residents of any remaining states also.
The servers and equipment of these members are situated in Bengaluru. By excellence of the Act, the members won't be allowed to carry on their activities from Bengaluru to give a platform for playing games of skill in different states where it is allowed under law," the petitioner guaranteed.
Justice Krishna S Dixit passed the request to hear this appeal alongside other comparative petitions, on October 27, 2021, the following date of hearing.
