Female Players Dominate Local Online Gaming & Esports
India’s gaming scene is catching the world by storm, and this digital revolution is unstoppable.
First and foremost, India’s esports industry is exploding, with revenues predicted to reach $40 million in 2022 and $140 million by 2027. That’s a staggering 32% CAGR, women gamers outnumber males by 11.2 hours per week, compared to 10.2 hours for men.

A whopping 80% prefer Indian-themed games, with 82% preferring games based on Indian mythology. According to the survey, the vast majority of gamers (98%) play on smartphones, with leisure being the most important reason for gaming. In terms of in-app purchases, 64% of paying gamers pay for additional material, with casual games being the most popular category.
