According to Vickram Bedi, Senior Director of Personal Systems, HP India Market, gaming has experienced tremendous growth worldwide over the past few years. What do you believe has changed people’s perceptions?

The HP India Gaming Landscape Study 2022 reveals that most serious gamers envision a gaming career in India, mainly due to the lucrative pay opportunities. In addition, being a gamer is no longer required to pursue a career in gaming. Numerous career options are available, including influencer, streaming, and gaming software developer. India is all set to become a gaming mecca as a result of this development.

How do you see the market accommodating all gamers?

Gamers are always eager to improve their skills. We need to provide Indian gamers with a learning and development ecosystem to give them more power. Through OMEN (HP’s gaming laptop series) community initiatives, we at HP are committed to supporting gamers on their journey by providing them with knowledge, tools, and opportunities to improve their skills and become better gamers. We’re making the OMEN community initiatives a one-stop shop where gamers can learn, participate, and be empowered. We offer the chance to join the OMEN Squad and gaming videos from professional gamers as part of our community initiatives. In addition, HP has signed up well-known Indian gamers and provides regular content to assist new Indian gamers.

Why do you think so many women choose gaming as a career?

Women gamers are breaking gender stereotypes and becoming more popular in India. The HP study found that 56% of female gamers consider gaming a career option and that two out of every five female gamers participate in online gaming competitions. Contrary to societal perceptions, women gamers prefer first-person shooters over action/adventure games when it comes to the gaming genre. Additionally, women turn to video games for stress reduction and relaxation. This shows that gaming has taken over a larger social context for women in India and not only filled the gap between boredom and escapism. There will be more gender parity among gamers as time goes on.

Are we witnessing a shift away from mobile gaming toward PC gaming?

To get the most out of gaming today, gamers need the right experience and technology. The overall experience is enhanced by innovative thermal technology, winning horsepower, stunning visuals, larger screens, and excellent accessories to bring games to life. Performance is in high demand, and the most recent CPUs and GPUs use a lot of power and produce heat. According to our most recent gaming study, 39% of mobile gamers want to switch to PC gaming because PCs offer a better gaming experience.
