The All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) has stated that as e-sports and e-gaming gain traction, there is a need for a robust policy framework as well as the formation of a digital framework to promote the sector.
Under the umbrella of the digital economy, e-sports and e-gaming will play a significant part in the Indian economy, the business body said in a statement.
Citing a new report, it said the Indian gaming market is ready to arrive at USD 6-7 billion in esteem by 2025 from USD 1.8 billion as of now. A move by state legislatures will go about as an impetus for the development and advancement of this beginning sector, the federation said, adding states need to adopt a proactive strategy by outlining suitable rules in such a manner as a portion of the High Courts has struck down the transition to boycott web online gaming.
"India has more than 200 million e-gamers playing across more than 200 platforms. E-sports and e-gaming, under the umbrella of digital economy development, will assume a significant part in the Indian economy. "To support this, the e-gaming industry needs vigorous approach systems and digital framework to attack towards being a worldwide pioneer," PK Mishra, President of All India Gaming Federation, said.
