India’s First Online Gaming Academy In MP Saw Overwhelming Registration
The sports department of Madhya Pradesh’s government has extended the registration date for the E-sports Jr Championship due to an overwhelming demand for admission into India’s first online gaming academy. The previous deadline of July 27 has been pushed back to August 1 to accommodate the 40,000 registrations received for the 200 available seats.
Furthermore, the last date for registration has been extended to July 27, 2023, to allow more young e-sports athletes to participate. Selection for the academy will be based on rankings in the championship, with 80% of seats reserved for youth from the state and 20% for participants from other regions.
Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia has stated that the chosen youth will receive comprehensive training to compete at the international level. The academy aims to groom not only champion gamers but also professionals in various areas of the gaming industry, such as content creation, casting, tournament operation, coding, and game development.
India is on the verge of becoming an esports powerhouse, with 630 million gamers. The upcoming academy will empower young individuals with gaming education and training, opening doors to professional careers. Minister Scindia believes that academy participants will not only bring glory to the state and the nation by winning medals but also forge promising paths in their professional lives.
